SEMRush

If SEMrush is your SEO secret weapon….

… why is it hiding your most valuable insights?

If you’re managing SEO, content, or paid traffic at scale, you’re probably knee-deep in SEMrush every week.

But if you’re relying only on what the UI gives you, you’re flying half-blind.

Here are three reports SEMrush could empower, but doesn’t
(unless you extract the data and build them yourself):

🚨 1. Content Decay Index

You’ve got hundreds – maybe thousands – of articles driving organic traffic.
But which ones are quietly eroding?
SEMrush doesn’t flag once-great content that’s now underperforming.
To surface decay:
→ Extract keyword + traffic by URL
→ Calculate traffic drop % + ranking deltas
→ Roll it into a Content Decay Score

Now you can prioritize reviving traffic-losers instead of wasting time on stable or irrelevant pages.

🚨
2. Competitor Trend Dashboard

Yes, SEMrush lets you spy on individual competitors.
But can you benchmark your YoY growth vs. theirs?
Nope.
If you want to see whether your traffic grew faster than theirs, or which competitor gained the most Top 10 keywords last quarter, you’ll need to:
→ Pull monthly traffic and keyword rankings for your whole set of rivals
→ Calculate YoY gains, losses, new Top 10 entries
→ Visualize multi-domain trends over time
It’s not in the UI, but the raw data is there. You just have to extract it.

🚨
3. Product Category Demand Forecasting

SEMrush tracks search interest.
But it doesn’t help you forecast which product categories are gaining traction, and which are cooling off.
To fix that:
→ Group keywords by product category
→ Calculate volume trends and velocity
→  Apply moving average or regression models to forecast
→  Build an Opportunity Score using volume × (1 – Competitive Density)
Now you’re not just reacting to shifts—you’re planning inventory, ad spend, and campaigns ahead of them.

💡 BONUS: When you merge SEMrush with tools like GA4, HubSpot, or NetSuite, you unlock reports like:

• Keyword-to-revenue attribution
• Search intent mapped to user journeys
• Regional demand overlay for inventory
• Real ROI per keyword (not just CPC guesstimates, e.g. revenue from ‘best protein bar’ vs. its acquisition cost)
The SEMrush UI gives you the tip of the iceberg.
We show you what’s under the surface.
You already pay for the insights.
Don’t stop at their dashboards.

What SEMrush insight have you tried to build that wasn’t in the dashboard?
